Acura Car Key Replacement: Every Key Type We Service
Modern Acuras use several distinct key technologies, and the service required depends entirely on which generation and trim level you drive. Older Acura models — certain Integra and TL generations — used a basic transponder key with a microchip embedded in the plastic head. That chip must be programmed to communicate with the car's immobilizer or the engine simply will not start, even if the blade is cut correctly. Our technicians carry the professional-grade programming tools needed to read your vehicle's immobilizer data and write a new key code on-site, without towing your car anywhere.
More recent Acura models, including current MDX and RDX trims, use proximity smart keys and push-button start systems. These keys broadcast a rolling encrypted signal and require both cutting and advanced programming — a two-step process our mobile units are fully equipped to perform. If you've lost all keys to your Acura, we can still generate a replacement using your Vehicle Identification Number and verified ownership documents, a process sometimes called an 'all-keys-lost' procedure. Spare key duplication while you still have a working key is always the most straightforward option, and we strongly encourage Acura owners to have at least one backup made before an emergency occurs.
